Preparation for puja
In the puja called Satyanarayana Pooja, people worship by reciting the gracious story of Lord Satyanarayana. Many people carry out this puja immediately after or along with an auspicious occasion or any success in life. Sri Satyanarayana puja is a very popular ritual in many parts of India including Gujarat, Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
- Please make sure that all puja articles are ready before the priest comes.
- Please keep DEEPAMS with cotton wicks ,oil
- PUT NAVADHANYAS EACH ONE IN A EACH BOWL before priest comes
- Please keep ready puja area with covering bed-sheets, and PUJA STAGE OR MANTAPAM before priest comes(MANTAPAM ONLY IF YOU HAVE BUT NOT NECESSARY)
- Don’t waste time AT PUJA with preparing camera or video, please prepare before,Like cells and other necessary things.
- If you have any kids it’s hard to ready all these things at that time, please try to Call some body before puja for help. Then you can get time to do all these things.
- These are regular problems. Instead of getting late if you do all these things before Priest comes, Then we can do puja without any hurry.
- If you do late every 30 min temple can charge extra money for late.please don’t do so.Thanks.
Procedure
Previous Night, think of the Lord Sri Satyanaaraayana and mentally decide to perform puja. Next day early morning keep the same thoughts of worshiping the Lord and take a head-bath (if possible an oil-bath). Wash Kalasa and fill it with clean water and place it near the Puja Mandapa in a clean place and cover it up. Observe Fast (if possible) Generally this could be done by both husband and wife (if it possible) Decorate the front door, Mandap, and the place near the Mandap. Invite your relatives, friends (who have bhakti on the Lord). The host were dress should be traditional dhoti (if it possible) Keep all the things for puja ready, near the Puja Mantap. Total PUJA duration -2hours.
NOTE – IF YOU COME TO PICK UP THE PRIEST PLEASE COME ON TIME. IF THERE IS A DELAY PLEASE CALL TEMPLE OR MANAGER ONLY IN ADVANCE, OTHERWISE THIS MIGHT MESS UP THE OTHER PUJAS.

- AFTER UDWAASANA OR AFTER PUJA YOU CAN REMOVE THE LORD AT ANY TIME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. IF IT IS TEMPLE IDOL PLEASE BRING TEMPLE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE OTHERWISE OTHAR PUJA PEOPLE WILL GET IN TROUBLE.
- ON KALASA COCONUT YOU CAN USE FOR GOD OR GIVE TO THE PRIEST WHEN YOU COME TO THE TEMPLE.
- TAKE THE RICE UNDER THE KALASA AND GIVE IT TO THE PRIEST.
- WHEN YOU BRING SATYANARAYANA PHOTO AND IDOL CLEAN AND BRING TO THE TEMPLE
- TAKE THE NAVAGRAHA FRUITS AND GRAINS PUT THEM INTO THE WATER STREAM( IF IT POSSIBLE) OR FEED THE BIRDS OR PUT UNDER THE TREE OR PUT IN TO THE TRASH BUT WHEN YOU BRING TO THE TEMPLE DO NOT GIVE IT TO THE TEMPLE MANAGER. GIVE TO THE PRIEST WHO DID YOUR PUJA. OTHERWISE ANY OTHER PRIEST

History of Sri Satyanarayan Swamy Puja
Sri Satyanarayana Swamy Puja, or Sri Satyanarayana Swamy Vrata as it is commonly known, is an auspicious Hindu religious observance. A ritual that is performed by people on several major occasions like housewarming, marriage etc., and this puja can be done at home on any day regardless of reason. It is the first mentioned ritual in the Skanda Purana of Hindus. Sri Satyanarayana Swamy Puja is generally done on the day of Purnima, or Full Moon, which is believed to be really fortunate.
Popularity of Satyanarayan Puja
Sri Satyanarayana Swamy Puja is considered a traditional ritual in different parts of India, which includes Bengal, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. Maharashtrians celebrate this ritual on Chaturthi or Ekadashi. The puja has special significance of the community of Chitpavan in Maharashtra.
In West Bengal, the puja is performed before housewarming or entering a new house.
In Andhra Pradesh, people have strong faith and belief towards Sri Satyanarayana Swamy, supposedly an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. There is a famous and ancient temple at Annavaram, East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh that is dedicated to Sri Satyanarayana Swamy and witnesses thousands of devotees coming to the temple to offer their prayers. This vrata has been performed on a regular basis in Annavaram. Not only devotees, but their families also visit this temple and take part in the vrata, which is believed to be the most sacred way to offer prayers.
